Some parts of northern Luzon put under signal no. 1 after tropical storm Mina increase the intensity and became a typhoon, Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Thursday.

Northern Aurora, Isabela and Cagayan remained under Storm Signal No. 1. Base on 11 a.m. advisory of PAGASA.

As of 10:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon “MINA” was located based on satellite and surface data at 310 km East of Casiguran, Aurora with a maximum sustained Winds of 120 kph near the center and Gustiness of up to 150 kph. PAGASA released in their weather bulletin update.

Typhoon “MINA” is expected to be at 220 km Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora by tomorrow morning and at 260 km North Northeast of Tuguegarao City or at 100 km Southeast of Basco, Batanes by Saturday morning. By Sunday morning, it will be at 200 km North Northeast of Basco, Batanes. PAGASA added.

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Undersecretary Graciano Yumul said Mina will leave the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday.
