A high-pressure ridge affecting the Luzon area is keeping the monsoon from becoming active, Department of Science and Technology said.

Due to an inter-tropical convergence zone (ITC) we may experience rain showers in the afternoon until the end of August.

DOST Undersecretary Graciano Yumul Jr. advised Filipinos to schedule their outdoor activities in the morning as rain usually comes in the afternoon.

PAGASA posted in their weather bulletin that the whole country will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with scattered to widespread rains over the western section of Southern Luzon.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the East to Northeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the Southwest to Southeast over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, PAGASA added.
