The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised public storm signal number 3 over Isabela, Cagayan and northern Aurora while Signal number 2 was raised over Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan Group of Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Quirino and the rest of Aurora on Thursday as Typhoon Mina came closer to the eastern seaboard of Luzon with gusty winds of up to 170 kilometers per hour (kph) and rainfall of 15 to 25 millimeters per hour.

Meanwhile, signal number 1 was hoisted over Ilocos Norte, Abra, Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province, Benguet, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya and Nueva Ecija.

“Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under Public Storm Warning Signals and Southern Luzon and Visayas are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides,” PAGASA said.

Mina is packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph as it continues to move west at 13 kph.
