Former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino’s second death anniversary declares a “Corazon C. Aquino Day.” Mayor Alfredo Lim of Manila signed a proclamation declaring August 1 as “Corazon C. Aquino Day” to give honor and tribute to the life and legacy of Cory Aquino.

Lim’s chief of staff and media bureau chief Ric de Guzman said , the proclamation will urge the people in Manila “to celebrate the day with appropriate programs, service and activities geared toward giving honor and tribute to the life and legacy of Mrs. Aquino, who has risen to become an icon of democracy in this country.”

However August 1 is not considered a holiday so the operations in schools and public offices will continue.
